The Ranch After Dark...

Many of those that are new to The Ranch wonder why we encourage (and all but require)

all of our first-time guests to check-in before dark.

What kind of place, here in the Midwest, with modern technology,

could be that hard to find???

Firstly, it has to do with our address.  We have what's known as a fire number.

In many rural locations, the use of fire numbers is still prevalent.

Mapquest, Google maps, GPS, Garmin, etc... often have difficulty

decoding this "address" and can send you off in the wrong direction.

Secondly, it has to do with our area roads themselves.

Several of them, particularly those in the Reserve that we are surrounded by,

are not recognized by those same technologies and we all know

what a nightmare that can cause.

Thirdly, there simply are no street lights out here.

No where. None. Zero. Zilch.

Impossible to see that which is not right in your headlights.

And here on The Ranch property, we especially have very little exterior lighting.

(Trust us. When you're out on your porch and you can see

the stars beyond the stars beyond the stars, you will THANK US!)

But when you're trying to find the place in the dark, it can be terribly difficult.

So, we hope the following photos & information can be of assistance

when arriving after dark is absolutely unavoidable.

*We still "all but require" first-time guests to arrive before dark.

SO, if you absolutely MUST arrive after dark, PLEASE

discuss it with Cowboy Joe PRIOR to your check-in date and

something may be able to be worked out.

The photos on the left & middle show you what The Ranch looks like

(summer & winter) as you approach the Check-In driveway.

The photo on the right is what it looks like JUST AFTER DARK!

Off Hwy 131, on County Road P, at 4.2 miles WEST,

looking out the driver's window this is what you will see...

Then turning left up the driveway

(IF YOU ARE ACTUALLY CHECKING IN and

haven't made "other" arrangements with Cowboy Joe)

this is what you will see...

Then off to the right is the walkway up to the Check-In Office

located in the barn at the end of the Christmas lights...

Then pulling back out that driveway & turning left,

the driveway up to the cabins is less than 200 yards up County Road P...

And turning up that driveway this is what it looks like after dark...

Then just up the driveway a couple hundred yards

and around the bend to the right,

is where the driveway splits and you take the left

down then up to the cabin parking area...

Finally, we offer this advise.

Check out (and print) the layout of The Ranch here.

It will help you cross reference & help you understand

where these photos are in relation to one another.

*WiFi in the cabins has been achieved through a series of routers & antennas.

The signal is strongest in The 1889 Western Village Cabins and

currently weakest in The Woodview cabin & The Big Sky Getaway cabins

depending on your device (laptops themselves have bigger antennas than an iPod.)

And all of this is based on current weather conditions.

We hope that inclement weather does not impact the WiFi connection but

regretfully, we will have to cross that bridge if & when we come to it.

If you have any trouble with our WiFi, see Cowboy Joe at your earliest convenience.

We ask for patience since this is a work in progress.

Keep in mind, that a solid, strong connection is always available at our Check-In Office.
