The Blackhawk Trail Intermediate to Experienced Riders - Approximately 3-4 Hours or 4-5 Hours The Blackhawk Ride leaves from the Ranch and is a 3 to 4 hour ride or can be tailored to a 4 to 5 hour ride depending on your skill level. Ride beneath one of the most known rock formations in the Kickapoo Valley Reserve. A short one hour round trip hike on foot will take you to the top of Blackhawk Rock while the horses wait for you at the hiking trail head. The views from Blackhawk Rock hiking trail are endless and go on for miles & miles. The hiking is optional on this ride. Mount up and ride along an old growth forest with wider trails that allow for grouped riding, indulge yourself in a little history as we ride past archeological sites. Didn’t catch the view from the hike? No problem, the hardwoods open up into a hidden ridgetop meadow with views that will take your breath away. After a bit of a technical descent, (gotta love that good horse you are on) the horses can take a water break at Indian Creek before we head out down the valley floor and get a view of Blackhawk Rock from below. This is an incredibly scenic ride with changes in elevation and lots of opportunity for grouped up riding. Click here to see information on the Rockton Trail.
