The Hanson's Lookout Trail

Intermediate to Experienced Riders - Approximately 4 Hours

The Hanson’s Lookout Ride leaves from the Ranch and heads out to the Kickapoo Valley Reserve.  This ride is an extension of the Ice Caves Ride and is one of the more scenic rides on the Reserve.  After a ride along the valley floor get geared up for some technical riding.  Scenic spots along the way will take your breath away and make you realize how much you appreciate the good horse you are on.  Pack the saddle bags for a secluded picnic surrounded by wilderness.  The highlight of this ride is a awe inspiring view from the look-out at Hanson’s Rock, (the highest elevation possible by horseback on the Reserve).  Bring your camera and look down on the Redtail Hawks as they glide below you high above the tree tops.  Get a sense of those that came before us as we ride past archeological sites and learn what it must have been like for early settlers looking over the vast wilderness before them.  A very secluded and spectacular ride with all the goodies.  An amazing ride for those who are ready for it.
