The Llamas of the Kickapoo Valley Ranch... Wait until you meet this cast of character!!!
With our grand reopening in September of 2010, we decided the time was right to "add to the family!"
We'd like you to meet the llamas that are with us today!
Delilah is really one of the sweetest creature on this earth. She is really kind of the matriarch of the heard. She is one of the easiest to catch & then loves being hugged & scratched. She "visited her boyfriend" for "a trip around the maypole" this past Fall. We'll have an adorable little Delilah baby (cria) early in the Fall of 2013.
HiJinx has also been with us since 2010 and she was kind enough to provide the Ranch with our first baby, Maximilian. Guests often comment on HiJinx' crazy "looks." She has one of the worst underbites! After "visiting her boyfriend" from May through early July 2012, she is delightfully pregnant again! Though this July has had some extremely high temperatures, we're hoping she "keeps" the baby & we'll then have a brother or sister for Maximilian in late May of 2013.
Lola, our caramel colored gal, is also incredibly social.
She went a courtin'" this past Fall, as
well.
Truman is our one lone, adult male gelding. He's still not sure what he's gotten himself into with all these domineering women, he really just wants to get along. But he really is quite a "protector." He's often watching "his girls" from a distance, making sure no harm comes to them! And he has really been an amazing "uncle" to our "baby"...
Maximilian Reginald! Born in April 2011 to HiJinx, The stories we could write about "Little Max!" His fiber (what you call his hair) is so beautiful blowing in the wind. He is so inquisitive. He is incredibly expressive. AND hilarious! Sometimes, out of nowhere, he will suddenly "jump out of his skin" and bolt to the other side of the arena. And please don't ask what he's trying to "do" to all the other llamas - he is acting like a precocious teen-ager and thank goodness he seems to be growing out of that behavior.
(We've always thought that animals should have grande names!!!) guess who is the first to come over to greet you!
Oh, and did we mention, she's ALSO pregnant!
Without further ado... may we introduce you to our crazy aliens... OOPS, I mean llamas!
